Manchester Photo shoot

On Monday 29th of July I met up with a lovely lady and an amazing photographer Natalie Waits, I am still at the moment building up my portfolio, so we met up in Manchester to shoot at a stunning little area called Castlefield where they have shot many scenes for Coronation street.
Here are some of the finished photos from the day!

Formby Beach Photo shoot

On Sunday, one of my boyfriends friends asked me could she take some photos of me because she loved my style and thought I'd be photogenic, I was so flattered and excited I couldn't say yes quick enough!

So we went down to our nearest beach which was Formby Beach about a 45 minute drive away, without sounding big headed I have always wanted to do modelling. Only because of my retro style and love of vintage. So I thought it would be a bit of an opportunity to get some photos for a portfolio.

I have also set up a model mayhem profile which is soon to be shown.

My 1960 Standard Ensign

Ever since I was little I've always had a fascination with classic cars, I get this from my Dad.
My dad has had his fair share of classic cars in the past one of my favourites being the Mercedes 1970 S E.
After visiting the Tatton Park classic car show this year I came across at 1957 Vauxhall Cresta to which I fell in love with straight away, but I was hit back to find that they are very rare and in mint condition can cost up to £30,000.
I also fell for a Austin A40 Somerset which again are very rare to find.

Then my dad came across a little 1960 Standard Ensign.
She needed a lot of doing but we knew that when she'd be finished she'd be a lovely little thing.
The actual car came from Edinburgh Scotland off an elderly man, who also wanting to get her on the road again, but due to his wife falling ill he chose to sell it instead of letting her waste in his garage. We Promised that once we got her done we would send photos to him to show him the work we have done on her.

We haven't started a great deal of work on her yet, but I'll make new blogs every time we make changes to her, we plan to keep her as original as possible but change the colours slightly. But I honestly cannot wait until she's done!

Until the next blog,
Love Beth xo

Hair Colour Change,Quiff color remover and Fudge Head Paint colour review.

Over the past week I have been contemplating whether to change my hair colour.

Up until last June I had been blonde all my life, my natural colour is blonde, but I'd always had a high lift colour or bleach to make it even more blonde and more of an ashy tone.
But when I had a drastic change to go from a blonde to a brunette  I thought I'd never change again (even with being a hairdresser).

But on Friday I finally picked up the courage to have a change, I've been wanting to go copper for a while now but as red is my favourite colour I was scared in case all my favourite red clothes and red lipsticks would clash against it. But after trying out different tones of reds I've founds they go really nice with coppery red hair.

So on Friday I got one of the girls in the salon to put a stripper on my hair to lift the majority of the dark tones out.

Hair during colour removing treatment

Hair washed and dried after first attempt.

After two attempts with the colour remover and with it lift the majority of the colour out we then decided to do a quick bleach bath on it, this is used to lift out the rest of the unwanted tones and to lighten it up for the copper to go a really bright colour, were as if we had put the copper colour over this it would have not gone as bright looking.

During the bleach bath.

After bleach bath (my hair at this point looks really dry but it was not at all, my hair is naturally curly and frizzy so this is what it looks like after just being blasted with the dryer)

So after the bleach bath, we put my full head colour on and my bleach flashes with tiny slices of bright red to make a contrast to the blonde and copper.
And ended with this..

I don't think this photo does it any just to be honest because it is so much brighter in person.
To keep on top of it though I will be using fudge sachets In red and copper to keep the brighten and shine, twice a week in between my monthly colours.

With being a hairstylist and having access to buy this from the wholesale, I know that you would not be able to buy these from any supermarket or beauty shop. Ask around your local hairdressers to see if they stock fudge Products and they should have these in. There amazing for maintain a healthy shiny colour in between your monthly hair appointments.
You may also be able to buy them from the fudge website.
Also the Quif colour remover that I used can only be purchased form a hairdressing wholesale and can not be sold to an unqualified hairstylist.
But if your wanting something similar to this colour removing process talk to your local hair salon for advice.
All colour used on my hair are Fudge Head paint permanent colours and Fudge speed bleach.

Art Deco Dita Von Teese Make up review

I have always been a lover of Art Deco make up, and was so excited when I found out that Dita Von Teese was collaborating with them.
I have had her collection of the products since they first came out but recently I have
purchased the Golden Vintage collection which she has done, my favourite being the mascara and lipstick box.
The Box set

Golden Vintage Lipstick in #28

Golden Vintage Mascara in #01
When I first used the lipstick I thought it would be a lot like the long lasting Dita Von Teese Art Deco Lipstick which its quite matte and drags when putting on.
But instead it was very smooth and velvet like, the colour in number 28 is quite a bright yet intense red it is very similar to the colour on the actual Art Deco picture. I tried it without lip liner first to see if it bled after a while but it was fine and stayed exactly the same no bleeding, no smudging just perfect.
I found that it did not stay on my lips for as long as the long lasting Art Deco Lipstick, but for a lovely shine popping lips I would definitely recommended.

The Mascara was one I couldn't wait to try. I have never found the perfect mascara for myself before and when I first purchased this I thought, I would be another 'tried it, didn't like it, binned it' but to my surprise I loved it! The actual mascara wand it quite slim but the bristles are really thick to really drag them lashes up and get every single one! For the actual mascara it was perfect it dried quick and wasn't hard when it dried so I didn't have that 'spiders leg' effect. It was lovely and soft and did not irritate my eyes, also my main problem with mascaras in the past have been that by end of the day I've ended up with panda eyes or dots underneath my eyes from where the mascara have smudged off. But I didn't have panda eyes all day (apart from when I take my make up off and its all over my face).

I hoped this helped anyone who is thinking of buying any Art Deco products especially the Dita Von Teese collection. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
